Type Locality and Naming

This suite was distinguished by M. M. Posokhova in 1959.

Synonym: Upper subseries, Khushikatskaya suite, хушикатская свита, Pasdonskaya suite Хушикатская свита, Lyangarskaya and Kshatdakskaya, лянгарскую и кштудакскую (in the Zeravshan valley, divided by A.S. Shadchinev (1970)

Lithology and Thickness

A. S. Shadchinev (1970) refers to it as the Pasdon Fm (Хушикатская свита) is composed of gray, thick-bedded feldspathic-quartz sandstones containing interlayers of carbonaceous-clayey slates, rarely diabases, porphyrites, their tuffs, and lava breccias. The thickness of the suite is 400-1700 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It conformably overlies on the Baikunghur Fm, байкунгурской свите of the lower + middle Llandovery

Upper contact

It is conformably overlain by the Garibak Fm, свитой венлокскоrо of the Wenlock-Ludlow stages

Regional extent

It is widespread in the Turkestan region. In its southern part, on the southern slopes of the Turkestan range.

Fossils

The deposits are characterized by remains of Upper Llandovery graptolites Pseudoplegmatograptus obesus Lapw., Petalolithus ovatus Barr., Rastrites fugax Barr., Spirograptus minor Boucek, Monograptus priodon Bronn., Monoclimacis griestoniensis Nicol., Pristiograptus nudus Lapw., Stomatograptus grandis Suess, Oktavites spiralis Geinitz. Deposits corresponding to the upper graptolite zone of the Llandovery stage Stomatograptus grandis - A. C. Shadchinev (1970) did not include in the considered suite. According to D. A. Starshinin, they are referred to it.
